The very premise of Cordonate started because someone in our own backyard had an immediate need and was looking for support....NOW. Time and time again - when Central Texan's put out the call for help — Cordonate answered. Take a look below at just a few of the ways they've made a difference over the past few years.
Hurricane Harvey
When Hurricane Harvey ravaged our Texas coastlines — Cordonate sprung into action. Not one to ever stand on the sidelines wringing his hands — Cord went down and rented a truck and asked the community to help fill it up. Within a few hours it was filled with necessary and life saving supplies. So they went and got 2 more trucks. Filled. By the end — they filled 13 trucks with over 2 Million dollars in supplies. With the Cajun navy and FEMA welcoming them through the gates — they drove the supplies to the front lines to unload and assist in any way they could.
Berk Strong
In the blink of an eye — your entire life can change. And that's what happened to this sweet family. While planting spring flowers in their flower beds — their toddler slipped into the pool unnoticed and drown. While she was able to be revived — she had severe swelling of her brain and needed a very expensive procedure if she had any chance to regain consciousness. The family’s insurance would not cover this so Cordonate jumped into action throwing a benefit with celebrity performances and raising over 200,000 to help them get the medical care their child desperately needed.
Great Harvest Bread Company
On a fateful day in August — Cord Shiflet hopped into an uber and started making small talk with the driver. He soon learned that the driver was the owner of a local bread company called Great Harvest Bread Company. When Cord asked why he was driving for Uber — the driver shared that there was massive construction in front of his business and that it was greatly affecting their bottom line. He started driving so that he could keep paying his employees. Cord asked if he might be able to share this story on social media and the rest is history! Great Harvest Bread Company not only sold out every day for weeks but actually had to hire additional people to keep up with the demand. KXAN covered the story here.

Alvin from Walgreens
Anyone who has ever walked through the doors of the Westlake Walgreens without a doubt knows Alvin. His infectious smile is the first thing you see and he is always so eager to help in any way. When Alvin's mother passed away — on Alvin's birthday — it was his turn to need help. And Cordonate delivered. Cord posted about his story and the community outpouring of love, support, notes and donations was incredible. Cord was able to deliver all the notes, words of encouragement and $10,000 to him.

Gray Hawn
From behind her lens, Gray Hawn has, for decades, captured those special life moments of so many local families as well as made a name for herself nationally and internationally. Unbeknownest to her — her studio was being cased and one night while she was out — her life's work and all of her camera equipment was stolen. Gray was not in a position to replace them so Cordonate stepped in and rallied the troops. Over $15,000 was raised to replace her equipment and get her back to doing what she does best — bringing out the smiles of local Austin families.

Baby James
A local paralegal for a state’s attorney clocked into work and looked at her new case file — a 7 week old baby with several rib fractures, broken toes, a broken shoulder blade, leg fractures, liver lacerations, a skull fracture and several other injuries. He was fighting for his life. When she arrived at the hospital — something unexpected happened. She couldn't bring herself to leave. She fell in love with him and decided to personally foster him. She stayed with him everyday for 6 months in the ICU until he was finally able to be released. There was only one problem. She had absolutely nothing prepared to take care of a baby. Cordonate asked for the community's help and posted once again — they did not disappoint. The showered her with over $5,000 in supplies such as diapers, bottles, car seat, crib, and clothing so that all she had to concentrate on was loving this baby back into a healthy little boy!
